We have been learning about farming in Nursery and we have been doing some of the jobs that a farmer has to do every day. We were milking the cow by hand and it took a very long time to do. We learned that this is the way the cows were milked a very long time ago. Nowadays the farmer has a milking machine to milk the cows and it is much, much quicker.
We used our milk to make ice cream. It was delicious!

The children had very sharp eyes in Nursery this morning as they noticed some frogs near the Nursery door. We thought it was best to catch them in case they got stood on. We found three tiny frogs and one bigger frog. When we took them over to the pond Sam spotted another frog. It took us a very long time to find it as it was very well camouflaged. We were talking about what we had to do to help to look after the frogs. See if you can spot the frogs in our pictures.

The whole school joined up with staff, family and friends, between Sports Day activities, for a picnic lunch in the playground. The place has never been so busy!! Everyone seemed to have a great time with lots of fun and laughter.

Primary 4 to 7 had a very successful Sports Day on the afternoon of Thursday 2nd June. The children had great fun taking part in all the races; sack race, egg and spoon race, skipping, lacrosse race, football dribble race, flat race and an obstacle course. All finished off with a marathon race!
There was a great turn out of parents and families to watch the children and with the sun shining on everyone, it was a great spectacle.
We would like to say a big thank you everyone who turned up to make it such a successful day!!

After the activities were finished everyone – children, parents, friends and staff all joined together in the playground for a picnic lunch.

Primary 5, Primary 6 and Primary 7 have taken part in the Guid Nychburris Football Festival at Queen of the South Arena this week. Four teams over four days, including boys and girls have kept us busy!
Each team has represented our school extremely well. The children showed great sportsmanship.
Very well done to you all! You set a great example for others.

Primary 5, 6 and 7 have recently taken part in a World of Work week. We have had a wide range of visitors into school, talking to the classes about their work and the skills needed to be successful in these types of employment.
A huge thank you to all our contributors. We have had a great time listening to your stories and finding out more about your work.

Our netballers took part in an inter-school netball festival at Maxwelltown High School this evening. They worked extremely hard and looked fantastic in their new netball kit. They made it to the quarterfinals. Well done girls!

Today our singing club went to sing at Dumfries Day Centre. The group had a great time and sang a variety of songs that they have sung throughout the year. After they had finished, the children spoke to the members of the Day Centre. They even had a dance with some of them. A big thank you to Mrs Wylie and Mrs Brown for helping on this outing.
