Nursery Graduation

It has been a while since we have posted on the blog but we have been so incredibly busy in Nursery.  We have had our sports day as well as moving up day and our trip to Hoddom Castle.  Look out on here for more photos from those events.

Nursery Graduation was a very emotional day for everyone.  We, as staff, are so proud of all our boys and girls who are moving on to Primary One in August.  They have been a privilege to teach and we wish them well on their new adventures ahead.

Eco Day!

Everyone had an exciting day on Monday, at our Eco Day. The children were invited to take part in a junk modelling competition. The quantity and quality of entries was outstanding, making judging by our Eco Group extremely challenging! Everyone who entered received a certificate and 20 house points. Our three winners got a certificate, 50 house points and a prize (an art set, sweeties and wild flower seeds). There will be a display about our day on the Eco Board, near the office soon.

THESE ARE OUR WINNING ENTRIES! CONGRATULATIONS!

The Eco Group provided the classes with seeds, pots and composts for every child. They sorted out the cans, bottles and batteries that everyone brought for recycling. After voting for junk model winners, they wrote certificates for everyone who participated.

WRITING CERTIFICATES FOR OUR JUNK MODEL COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS

Payton’s mummy did beautiful Eco face painting and everyone watched different thought-provoking video clips about littering, recycling and reducing much of what we use. There were lots of different art activities in each class as well.

We finished the event at a school assembly, reflecting on the purpose of the day and pledging to change one thing (each) to help our beautiful planet. Phew! 🌎🍃 Continue Reading →

Topical News

Recently there have been lots of very interesting, sometimes sad, topical news stories. Primary 7 have spent some time discussing these stories, and how they feel about them.

We would welcome your comments about anything you have seen or heard in the news, which has sparked their interest.

Thank you,

Mrs Storey

P1, P1/2 and P2 @ Mabie Farm Park

A brilliant time was had by all as St Ninian’s took over Mabie Farm today as part of their learning about Living Things/In the Garden. The children were all in little groups as they made their way around the activities. The weather was kind to us so we were able to have a big picnic together at lunchtime. There will be a few sleepy-heads tonight! A huge thank to our extensive list of helpers. Yet again, our wonderful children behaved impeccably.

Primary Six Masterchefs!

Today, Primary 6 visited Clare and Carlo Rinaldi at Primo Piano.  They were tasked with learning how to cook individually designed pizzas and  a delicious pasta sauce as part of their ‘Food Glorious Food’ project.  Clare took groups of children into the kitchen to learn how to cook the pasta sauces while Carlo talked about the food they produce in the restaurant and helped children create their own pizzas.  We all enjoyed eating our pizzas for lunch together in the restaurant and took the pasta dish home for tea.  The children had an amazing experience which could not have been replicated in school.

We are all so very, very grateful to Clare and Carlo for very kindly donating their time, premises and all of the ingredients so that the children could have this experience.  Thanks also to Brett (a former pupil of St. Ninian’s) for helping us out.  It is so amazing to know that our local community are willing to help us on our learning journeys.

Thanks also go to Miss Russell, Mr Halliday and Mrs Stewart for coming with us.
