Troqueer Rotary Quiz

On Tuesday 31st of January I went to Troqueer for a quiz with 3 other students in my class. We tried our hardest we didn’t win but we had lots of fun. We were against 10 other schools and the top 3 were going to the heats. Noblehill got first place and sadly we got 12th but we tried our hardest.

Gymnastics Competition

On Saturday 28th January some children in St. Ninians took part in a Gymnastics Competition, there was children from primary 5 ,6  and 7. We all had to make up a routine with six moves in our level which would impress the judges. We also had to do something called the Vault (the horse) There was all three moves but most of our team chose straddle ( this is when you jump on a spring board and put your legs straight in the air) and some people did the squat on ( this is when you jump on to the spring board and land on the Vault and jump off as fast as you can) I think our team and all the other schools were amazing. I don’t really do gymnastics but after this I might start now.

Thank you for reading my post.

Stone Age To Iron Age

In p7 our topic is Stone Age to the Iron Age. I really enjoy this topic because I think it is interesting. We have bean learning about how cavemen survived and made shelters/homes. We also have bean looking at the paintings that they drew on the rocks.

Cairns Cup Curling Competition

On Saturday 28th January I went to Dumfries Ice bowl and took part in  a curling competition called the Cairns Cup. There were  teams from Hollywood (which is near Lochside) there were also a few teams from the Dumfries curlers and I was one of them. I was in a team with Max, Jay and Jade and we were so happy to come third in the competition and we got a prize of £20. I had so much fun doing the competition and I hopefully have one coming up very soon.

Brighter Futures – Lincluden Community Centre

Over the last few months Our Place staff had been helping Lincluden Community Centre complete a Big Lottery application to develop the Centre. In the last couple of weeks the Community Centre received the exciting news that their application to the Big Lottery for £127K to update the Centre had been successful. This will mean that three community rooms can now be transformed and toilets and windows can be replaced offering better services and facilities for groups using the Centre.

Cross Country Courage

Congratulations to our P6 and P7 pupils who took part in Active School’s Cross Country event today. The weather was absolutely hideous but spirits were not dampened. The children ran their socks off – literally for Jake!

An extra well done goes to Ajay for winning a shield along with a pupil from Laurieknowe Primary for outstanding sportsmanlike conduct. Both boys helped a boy up who had fallen and helped him to continue. That’s what being at St Ninian’s is all about.

Thank you very much to Mrs Brown, Mr Robison, Miss Evans and Mr Carr for coming along to support our children.
