Help us help your child!

One of our main aims at Nursery is to promote independence in children.  Below is an article which explains the reasons why independence is so important for children.

Building children’s independence

You can help your children develop their independence skills by encouraging them to dress themselves, tidy away their toys and put on their own shoes.  It is very difficult for children to do their shoes independently if they have laces, so we would ask you to choose their shoes for Nursery very carefully.

Sky Academy

Today was P7’s turn to visit Sky Academy in Livingstone. It was absolutely fantastic!! The children opted for different roles (editor, producer, director, reporter, editor, camera operator) then worked in four groups to create a full Sky News report on their recent Natural Disasters topic. They used actual studio cameras, green screen, auto-cue and editing technologies. It was all edited together and the children took USB copies home with them. Thank you very much to Mrs Storey for organising it for P5, 6 and 7. We will remember the experience for a long time to come (and plan to build on it).

PTA Halloween Disco

Everyone had a fantastic time at the PTA Halloween disco on Thursday 2nd November. Everyone made such a brilliant effort with their costumes and you all looked terrifying- including the staff!

A massive thank you to everyone who was involved in organising the disco, especially to the members of the PTA who worked so hard to make up party bags and provide fabulous prizes.

Well done everyone.

Fire Safety

This week we have been learning about fire safety and what we should do if we find a fire.  We went on a walk around the school to look for fire exit signs.  We learned that we need to follow these signs to get outside to safety.   One of our pupils was very clever and noticed the fire exit signs at her ballet class too and told her Mummy what they were.

Music Performance- Get Rhythm!

Children in Primary 2/3 and 3/4 took part in a musical performance for parents on Tuesday 10th October. The children showcased what they had been learning with Mrs Picken. The performance was excellent and the children were ecstatic with how large the audience was.

Thank you so much to everyone who could make it, it was a lovely morning.
