Fire Safety

Primary 6 had a very informative fire safety talk today.  They asked great questions, learned how to identify potential fire hazards in the home and they can now check their own homes to ensure they are as safe as possible.

One issue which was brought up was ensuring every household has at least one working smoke alarm.  The fire service offer a FREE home fire safety visit to all households and will come at a time suitable to you to help you check your alarm, fit new alarms, spot potential hazards and give general advice and guidance.  They can be contacted on 01387 252222 or visit www.firescotland.gov.uk.

Something else which P6 were asked to do is to make a fire plan.  This could be a family discussion about what to do if there was a fire in the home or you could even have a practice fire drill like we do in school.  It is a worthwhile activity for everyone to do so that every member of the family is clear about what they should do (or not do) in the event of a fire.
