P2/3 visit Hoddam to learn about Lifecycles

P2/3 had a sunny day at Hoddam where they participated in lots of activities to learn about lifecycles.

First  we hunted in the woods for badger holes, then we spread some ash seeds from the bridge. Next we played a fox game to show us how animals can help spread seeds around on their fur!

After lunch we had great fun at the park. A few of us played crazy golf or dug in the sandpit.

Our final activity was the bee game. Each team had to find a different colour of flower and each member took a turn of being Queen Bee when they had found one.The red flowers won! the yellow and blue teams couldn’t find their last flower! Duncan went back after we left to look for them, he found the blue one but no sign of the yellow one!!!! An exhausting but interesting day. Well done P2/3!

P1a Baby Visit

Primary 1a have been learning about what someone needs to do to look after a baby. We had to look after our own babies. This involved us putting nappies on our babies, dressing them and feeding them. Also, we had a visit from Isla and her mummy Sarah. Sarah answered our questions about what looking after a baby was like. We even got to hold Isla.

P4 Roman Projects

Primary 4 have been working incredibly hard along with their parents to create a Roman project of their own choice.  It could be anything which interested them from their class topic and could be made from anything!  Today was the ‘Grand Unveiling’!

The results were superb.  We had cooking, clothing, shields, swords, forts and even a couple of colosseums!  Primary 3/4 and then P5 came for a wee peak at what we had been up to, then in the afternoon lots of parents, grandparents and friends came to visit us.  We are so grateful for your interesting questions and for taking the time to come to see our very hard work.

Have a look at what we made.  We loved it!

P6/7 Rugby Festival with the Saints

LOOK OUT FOR THIS REPORT BY HEAD COACH, RUDI. IT WILL BE IN THE STANDARD SOON.

Monday 26th March saw the Dumfries Saints Rugby Club and the D&G Active Schools Team play host to 381 boys and girls from 10 Primary Schools from the Nithsdale region at a P6 and P7 Primary School Festival of Rugby at Park Farm. The Festival was a culmination of 12 weeks of work with boys and girls at 17 Primary Schools by the Saint’s Community Development Team made up of experienced Coaches and members of the Saints’ Youth Coach Development Programme. The weather played it part too as sunshine and blue-sky views across Park Farm and away up to Criffel greeted supportive Staff and Pupils from the 10 Schools. Whilst Teachers and Parents who came along to show their support enjoyed the famous Dumfries Saints hospitality with some well deserved time to have a cup of Tea and Cake the Club’s Youth Coach Development Team put the boys and girls through their paces in a well organised series of Festival type Rugby games and activities. The focus was wholly on enjoyment and using Rugby to build transferrable physical and mental skills for all children who took part with every player having an opportunity to show off their talents. In recognition of this, every pupil that took part was awarded a certificate of attendance. From the Club’s point of view the Festival was a great success and provided us with further opportunity to showcase the fantastic work we do in the community and welcome so many new faces (Teachers, Parents, Boys and Girls) to Park Farm and experience the wonderful facilities we have but more importantly the fun, inclusive nature, traditions and ethos that are synonymous with the Dumfries Saints and the Game of Rugby.

The Saints look forward to growing their relationship with local Primary and High Schools and continue to grow the Game by encouraging young people to come down to Park Farm and join our Rugby Family where every boy and girl is looked after by an excellent group of Professional and Volunteer Coaches and Managers with a 100% PVG clearance record and provided wonderful opportunities to participate and grow in a safe, fun-filled environment. For any further information who how to get your sons’ and daughters involved at the Saints feel free to contact the Club’s Head Coach and Rugby Development Manager Rudi Urbach as follows:
