It\u2019s been another busy and exciting week in school! Our P6\u20137 pupils recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to Loch Inch at Castle Kennedy, where they took part in an engaging Food and Farming workshop organised by the Royal Highland Education Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On arrival, pupils rotated around a series of practical workshops led by local farmers and industry experts. Each station gave pupils the chance to explore different aspects of farming and food production while learning directly from professionals working in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf3e Gamekeeping<\/strong>
Pupils learned about the role of a modern gamekeeper and how it involves caring for and maintaining the environment. They explored examples such as deer antlers and pheasants while discussing wildlife management and conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc11 Sheep Farming and Red Meat<\/strong>
Meeting some real sheep and lambs was a definite highlight! Pupils learned about wool production, sheep markings, and the many uses of sheep farming within agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\ude9c Agricultural Machinery<\/strong>
A tour of a large piece of farming machinery gave pupils a close-up look at modern agricultural technology. They learned about silage production and even had the opportunity to sit inside the vehicle – which was very exciting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\udd5b Dairy Farming<\/strong>
This session focused on how milk is produced and processed. Pupils explored equipment used in milking and learned more about how dairy products make their journey from farm to table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\udd69 Food and Meat Health<\/strong>
The final workshop explored different types of red meat and healthy eating. Pupils took part in sorting activities and learned about how farming connects to our everyday food choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the day, pupils showed fantastic curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and demonstrated great behaviour – representing our school beautifully. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life and deepen understanding of where our food comes from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
