On Wednesday 28th January, we were delighted to welcome families into school for our Scots Celebration Showcase, a wonderful afternoon celebrating Scots language, culture, and creativity. It was a joyful, proud occasion and so well attended – thank you so much to all families who came along to support our pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the lead-up to the showcase, pupils took part in three Scots competitions: \u270d\ufe0f Handwriting<\/strong> \u2013 writing their Scots poem in their very best handwriting \ud83c\udfa8 Creative Art<\/strong> \u2013 creating a piece of artwork inspired by their poem \ud83c\udfa4 Poetry Reciting<\/strong> \u2013 confidently learning and performing their Scots poem<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were very grateful to Father Ben, who kindly came into school a few days beforehand to judge all of the entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the competitions, pupils who were winners – or who chose to – performed their Scots poems for the audience, which was a real highlight of the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P7:<\/strong> Ross and Ava performed their poem together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Each performance showed fantastic confidence, expression, and pride in Scots language – we were incredibly proud of them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the showcase, pupils also shared their Scots learning through song: \ud83c\udfb5 P1\u20134<\/strong> sang Coulter\u2019s Candy<\/em> \ud83c\udfb5 P5\u20137<\/strong> sang Wee Jock Cocksparra<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both performances were wonderful and really added to the celebratory atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A special thank you to Ms Whorlow for preparing tea and coffee afterwards – very much appreciated by everyone who stayed to chat and celebrate together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
