We are proud that we have already achieved our bronze and silver awards, when our rights journey began back in January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award, developed by <strong>UNICEF UK<\/strong>, recognises schools that place <strong>children\u2019s rights<\/strong> at the heart of everything they do \u2014 in policy, practice, and daily life. It celebrates schools where the <strong>United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)<\/strong> is not just taught, but lived and breathed throughout the school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc9b Our Rights Respecting Journey So Far<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our journey began with the ambition to ensure that every member of our school community understands, respects, and promotes the rights of every child.<br>Since then, we have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explored children\u2019s rights in <strong>assemblies, classrooms, and beyond<\/strong>, linking them to everyday learning and experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Formed our <strong>Rights Respecting Steering Group<\/strong>, which is <strong>pupil council\u2013led by Miss Lisi<\/strong>, ensuring that pupil voice is at the heart of our work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensured that every pupil can be an active participant in building our rights culture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developed a shared language of rights, helping children feel empowered as <strong>rights holders<\/strong> and understand the role of adults as <strong>duty bearers<\/strong> who help protect and promote those rights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewed our school policies and practices to make sure they reflect a rights-based approach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthened our sense of community, empathy, and respect \u2014 key values that guide life at St. Joseph\u2019s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lived and practiced our rights and values every day as part of our <strong>Catholic faith<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfe1 Working Together: Home, School, and Community<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe that achieving the Gold Award is not just a celebration for our school, but for our entire community.
