{"id":5536,"date":"2025-09-16T16:35:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T15:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/stjosephsprimary\/?p=5536"},"modified":"2025-09-16T16:35:24","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T15:35:24","slug":"%f0%9f%8f%90-first-netball-after-school-club-kicks-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/stjosephsprimary\/?p=5536","title":{"rendered":"\ud83c\udfd0 First Netball After-School Club Kicks Off!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today we held our first Netball After-School Club at St Joseph\u2019s RC Primary with coach Donna Westbrook &#8211; and what a brilliant start it was!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session focused on some core netball skills:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bounce pass cheat and shoulder pass<\/strong> \u2013 pupils practised accurate passing and moving into space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Footwork and pivoting<\/strong> \u2013 building confidence in controlling movement on court.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shooting from different angles<\/strong> \u2013 developing technique and accuracy close to and far from the post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We then put these skills into practice in a friendly game of netball, letting the children experience real match play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fantastic <strong>13 pupils from P4\u2013P7<\/strong> turned up today &#8211; we only need one more to make up two full teams!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f <strong>Netball Player of the Week<\/strong> goes to Nanci-Rose for her brilliant pivoting and footwork. Well done!<br>\ud83c\udf1f <strong>Special mention<\/strong> to Gregor, who scored an incredible six goals in a row during the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team motto is now proudly \u201c<strong>Respect, Teamwork and Happiness<\/strong>\u201d \u2013 perfectly summing up the spirit of our club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A huge thank you to Donna Westbrook for running the club and to all our pupils for such a super turnout. (Developing netball skills helps build confidence and teamwork.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udfe2 SHANARRI Indicators<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Active<\/strong> \u2013 Pupils are taking part in a physical activity that develops coordination and fitness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Included<\/strong> \u2013 The club is open to all P4\u2013P7 pupils, encouraging inclusion and belonging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respected<\/strong> \u2013
