They kindly came to share their experiences of growing up in Iran and living in Germany.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the visit, our children prepared thoughtful questions about culture, daily life and diversity. Abraham and Najmeh answered brilliantly and helped our pupils understand more about the world beyond Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They told us about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Where they come from<\/strong> and what life was like in Iran.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Languages<\/strong> they speak \u2013 English, German, Persian and another local language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Living in Germany<\/strong> and how they now work with refugees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Food in Iran<\/strong>, especially rice dishes like Callampolo (cabbage and rice).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Persian New Year<\/strong>, which lasts 13 days, marks the arrival of spring, and ends with a day in nature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Different calendars<\/strong> \u2013 in Iran it\u2019s the year<strong> <\/strong>1404, not 2025!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Travel<\/strong> \u2013 it takes about 6 hours to fly from here to Iran.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Traditional music<\/strong> \u2013 including guitar and sitar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Daily life<\/strong> \u2013 such as going out at night because of the heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>School systems<\/strong> \u2013 how schools in Iran are structured differently to Scotland and Germany.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Religion and culture<\/strong> \u2013 how religion is part of everyday life and how people practise their faith in Iran.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dress<\/strong> \u2013 traditional clothing and why people may dress differently depending on their culture or religion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Comparing Berlin and Iran<\/strong> \u2013 Berlin is less crowded and the climate creates a different caf\u00e9 culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf6c The children also got to taste an Iranian treat called Gaz \u2013 a chewy nougat sweet often eaten at special occasions \u2013 which they loved trying!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This visit helped our children see how people\u2019s lives and experiences can be different but also share many similarities. It supported our ongoing learning about diversity, respect and global citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A huge thank you to Abraham and Najmeh for inspiring our pupils, and to Donna Westbrook for bringing Indicators<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Included<\/strong> \u2013 All pupils took part in the Q&amp;A session, ensuring everyone had the chance to learn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respected<\/strong> \u2013 Children\u2019s questions and ideas were valued during the visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsible<\/strong> \u2013 Pupils showed maturity and respect when asking about religion, dress and culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul 10 \u2013 Reduced Inequalities<\/strong><br>Understanding diversity and respecting differences helps tackle prejudice and inequality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 16 \u2013 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions<\/strong><br>Encouraging dialogue, respect and understanding promotes peace and inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Relevant Meta-skills:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Communicating<\/strong> \u2013 Pupils asked clear, respectful questions to our visitors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Curiosity<\/strong> \u2013 Children showed genuine interest in different cultures, school systems and traditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sense Making<\/strong> \u2013 Pupils compared life in Iran, Berlin and Scotland to understand similarities and differences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collaborating<\/strong> \u2013 Working in groups to prepare and share questions fostered teamwork.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Feeling<\/strong> \u2013 Developing empathy for people from different backgrounds and experiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3
