{"id":5449,"date":"2025-08-29T23:45:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T22:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/stjosephsprimary\/?p=5449"},"modified":"2025-08-29T23:45:18","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T22:45:18","slug":"%f0%9f%8c%9f-whole-school-assembly-pupil-leadership-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/stjosephsprimary\/?p=5449","title":{"rendered":"\ud83c\udf1f Whole School Assembly \u2013 Pupil Leadership 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thursday&#8217;s whole school assembly was a very exciting one \u2013 our P7s gave their House Captain presentations and we officially launched all our pupil leadership groups for the year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc4f First up were the House Captains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>St. Columbus<\/strong> \u2013 Danielle gave a wonderful speech that wowed everyone, and her house voted unanimously for her as Captain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>St. Ninian\u2019s<\/strong> \u2013 Myra and Ava W both prepared fantastic PowerPoint presentations and delivered them with confidence. It was so close it ended in a tie, and after a random pick, Ava W was chosen as Captain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>St. Andrew\u2019s<\/strong> \u2013 Ross impressed with his brilliant PowerPoint, and Gregor gave an excellent speech alongside his homemade storyboard poster. Again, it was a tie and after picking at random, Gregor was chosen as Captain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This means our <strong>Vice Captains<\/strong> are Ross and Myra &#8211; and together, our five Primary 7s will be leading their houses with enthusiasm and teamwork. \u2b50<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udca1 Pupil Leadership Groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We also got organised into our three pupil groups \u2013 <strong>Pupil Council, Eco Committee and Enterprise<\/strong>. Every pupil in the school had to apply, showing the skills and attributes they could bring, and now every single child has an important role to play this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other key leadership roles were also announced:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Digital Leaders<\/strong> \u2013 Myra, Robin and Callum, supported by Ross as our <strong>Digital Expert<\/strong>. This team will help pupils and staff with digital technology across the school, and Ross will also train the leaders in their new skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>STEM Leaders<\/strong> \u2013 Danielle, Ava G and Nanci-Rose. These pupils will take the lead in science, technology, engineering and maths projects, helping to share ideas and support learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reading Champions<\/strong> \u2013 chosen by Miss Scott: Myra as <strong>Library Manager<\/strong>, with Karlton, Ebony, Aria-Lydia and Rebecca. Together, they will support our school library, encourage reading for pleasure, and help with our library transformation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainability Monitor (P5\u20137)<\/strong> \u2013 Katie. She will help us think carefully about recycling, energy use, and keeping our classroom eco-friendly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Classroom Manager (P5\u20137)<\/strong> \u2013 Ava W. She will help to keep the classroom running smoothly by organising jobs and making sure resources are used well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Classroom Assistant (P5\u20137)<\/strong> \u2013 Rhiannon. She will support the class by helping with smaller tasks and assisting with organisation in day-to-day learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meta-Skills Champion<\/strong> \u2013 Ross. He will encourage us to think about our skills for learning, life and work, helping everyone develop their strengths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wellbeing Champion<\/strong> \u2013 Gregor. He will promote health, kindness and wellbeing across the school and make sure everyone feels included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfc5 Rights Respecting Schools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As we continue our journey towards the <strong>Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award<\/strong>, we created a brand-new role &#8211; our <strong>RRS Coordinator<\/strong>. This year, Ava W will lead the way, working alongside the Pupil Council (our RRS Champions) and senior pupils to help us reach our goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfa4 Right of the Month \u2013 Article 13<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the assembly we also discussed the <strong>Right of the Month for August \u2013 Article 13: Freedom of Expression<\/strong>. This was the perfect theme, as our P7s showed different ways of expressing themselves \u2013 through speeches, posters, PowerPoints, and creative presentations. It reminded us all that everyone has the right to share their thoughts and ideas in many different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf89 A Fantastic Start<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every pupil received a certificate for their new role, and there were big smiles all round! We are so proud of the children for the effort and enthusiasm they showed today. With such strong leadership across the school, we can\u2019t wait to see what this year will bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcf8 Here are our pupils with their certificates \u2013 ready to lead,
