This week, pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7 enjoyed a very special treat \u2014 a live music concert from the Lighthouse Musicians. The performance featured a magical mix of Disney classics, traditional Scottish favourites and beautiful classical music. The school hall was filled with excitement, smiles and songs that had everyone tapping their feet and clapping along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our younger pupils in P1 to P4 impressed everyone with their fantastic listening skills. They were able to identify different music genres thanks to their earlier work with the Lighthouse Musicians. Recognising classical, folk and film music helped them make meaningful connections and build on their previous learning. This is a great example of how they are developing important meta-skills<\/strong> such as critical thinking and curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Songs We Loved<\/strong>
From Disney favourites like Let It Go and The Bare Necessities to lively Scottish tunes and calming classical pieces, every part of the concert offered something special. A huge thank you to Helen, Helen and the rest of the Lighthouse team for their energy, storytelling and musical talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning About Live Events<\/strong>
The concert was not just about enjoying music. It also gave pupils a real-life experience of what it is like to attend a live event. They learned about:
\u2022 buying a ticket and finding the correct seat number
\u2022 choosing a snack or juice
\u2022 seeing what merchandise is available, such as programmes or posters
\u2022 the kinds of venues where concerts take place, including places in Glasgow, Edinburgh or even further afield
\u2022 the difference between indoor concerts and outdoor festivals like Glastonbury<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This helped pupils develop organisation<\/strong>, planning<\/strong> and self-management<\/strong> skills, while encouraging curiosity about the world of music and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SHANARRI in Action<\/strong>
Safe and Included<\/strong> \u2013 All pupils took part in a warm and supportive environment where they felt welcome and valued
Healthy and Active<\/strong> \u2013 Singing along and moving to the music brought joy and energy to the day
Achieving<\/strong> \u2013 Pupils were able to show what they had learned in music by linking sounds to different genres
Respected and Responsible<\/strong> \u2013 Everyone showed how to be a respectful audience, listening carefully and clapping at the right time<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNCRC and Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong>
This event supports Article 31<\/strong> of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states that every child has the right to take part in cultural and artistic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert also links to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong>, especially:
\u2022 Goal 4: Quality Education<\/strong> \u2013 Enriching learning through music and the arts
\u2022 Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities<\/strong> \u2013 Providing cultural experiences for all pupils
\u2022 Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities<\/strong> \u2013 Promoting the arts as a vital part of community life<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are incredibly grateful to the Lighthouse Musicians for this inspiring experience. It was a wonderful reminder of how live music can bring people together, spark imagination and build confidence. We look forward to welcoming them back again soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
