What a fantastic first day our Primary 7s have had at Barcaple! From the moment they set off this morning to lights out tonight, the children have been full of excitement<\/em>, laughter<\/em>, and adventure<\/em>. \ud83c\udf3f\u2728<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day started bright and early as our P7s left for Barcaple at 9:30am, buzzing with anticipation. The bus journey was full of chatter and smiles \ud83d\ude04 as they enjoyed spending time with friends on the way to what promises to be a trip full of unforgettable memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once they arrived, the children spent some time settling in. They kicked things off with fun in the games room<\/em> \ud83c\udfaf, followed by a quick packed lunch in the dining room. Afterwards, there was plenty of excitement as they explored their rooms and got ready for the first big activities of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon brought action and adventure for everyone. The boys<\/em> headed off for a forest adventure<\/em> \ud83c\udf32, taking on challenges during a walk deep into the woods. There was plenty of fun (and mud!) as they worked together and showed great teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the girls<\/em> started their afternoon tackling the climbing wall<\/em> \ud83e\uddd7. They learned how to traverse the wall, climbed higher with harnesses, and showed great determination as they pushed themselves before abseiling back down. After the climbing challenge, it was time for orienteering<\/em> \ud83d\uddfa\ufe0f. The girls split into groups by school\u2014St. Joseph\u2019s<\/em> and Portpatrick<\/em>\u2014and raced to find as many locations as possible. It was a close competition, with the Portpatrick girls<\/em> winning by just one point, but everyone had a brilliant time exploring and running around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been fantastic to see how well the pupils from St. Joseph\u2019s<\/em> and Portpatrick<\/em> have joined together as one group \ud83e\udd1d. The partnership between the schools has been a real highlight, with children supporting one another, working as a team, and building new friendships. They\u2019ve set a brilliant example for both schools with their excellent behaviour<\/em>, positive attitudes<\/em>, and kindness<\/em> towards one another. \ud83c\udf1f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all that activity, the children returned to their rooms to get cleaned up and ready for dinner \ud83c\udf7d\ufe0f. They also had some free time to relax in their rooms or return to the games room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner was a well-earned treat. Tonight\u2019s options included chilli con carne with rice<\/em> \ud83c\udf36\ufe0f or vegetable lasagne<\/em>, both served with a side of vegetables. For those who wanted something simpler, there was always toast on offer. The star of the meal, however, was the Oreo cheesecake<\/em> \ud83c\udf70 for dessert\u2014a big hit with everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dinner, it was time for Explore<\/em>. During this session, the children enjoyed some reflection time<\/em> \u2728 and played games with pupils from the other school. One of the highlights of Explore<\/em> was acting out a parable<\/em>, where the children learned an important lesson about conquering their fears<\/em> \ud83d\udcaa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening didn\u2019t end there! After Explore<\/em>, our P7s joined the other school for a game of indoor hockey<\/em> \ud83c\udfd1, which proved to be wild<\/em> and full of energy. There was no shortage of competitive spirit and laughter as the children ran, played, and had a great time together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish off a brilliant first day, the children enjoyed a supper of cake and juice<\/em> \ud83c\udf82\ud83e\uddc3 before heading off for some final free time in the games room or relaxing in their rooms. Lights out<\/em> is at 10pm<\/em>, and after such a busy day, we\u2019re sure everyone will get a good night\u2019s sleep<\/em>, ready for more adventures tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re so proud of how well all the children have settled in, challenged themselves<\/em>, and represented their schools<\/em> so well. They\u2019ve made a fantastic start<\/em> to the trip\u2014what a great first day at Barcaple!<\/em> \ud83c\udf1f\ud83d\udc99<\/p>\n\n\n\n
