The miserable weather couldn\u2019t dampen the community spirit at St. Joseph\u2019s Christmas Fayre on the 5th<\/sup> of December.  Our supporters turned up in force to support our wee school.  There were familiar faces and it was lovely to see some new faces too. Father Ben took time out of his busy schedule to come along and join in the Christmas cheer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was so much on offer to entertain and delight.\u00a0 Santa was in his Grotto, hearing last minute Christmas wishes from the children.\u00a0 They were thrilled to receive an early Christmas gift at their visit.\u00a0 One of Santa’s most trusted elves was on hand to help the children sit in Santa\u2019s sleigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were overwhelmed by the generous donations to our Christmas raffle and bottle stalls which did a roaring trade. Our Enterprise group worked hard behind the scenes to help organise our refreshment stall. Teas, coffees, hot chocolate and homemade baking treats were very welcome, proving very popular to warm everyone up.\u00a0 The extras were delivered to Belmont Care home as an evening treat for the residents. There was also the opportunity for our guests to take plenty of selfie shots in their Christmas finery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys and girls had made their own special promotional signs to advertise each activity. They also had an enjoyable craft afternoon with families beforehand to create festive decorations which were snapped up by proud families. Our Market Street enticed shoppers with a wide range of Christmas treats too.\u00a0 The children even manned their own market stalls with the crafts they\u2019d made, showing what enterprising individuals they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the children performed carols by candlelight in a very touching performance to bring the evening to a close.  They had been practicing for weeks in their after-school carol singing club and their effort paid off with a beautiful performance of seasonal hymns and songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All this was possible through the support of our fabulous families and communities, our Parent Council, staff and willing elf helpers from the Portpatrick Community Development Trust. St. Joseph\u2019s pupils and staff are very grateful for you kind generosity and continuing support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
