Your child remains fully enrolled at their school, and the school continues to have responsibility for ensuring they receive an appropriate education overall.

Flexi Schooling is different from home education. It is a shared agreement between parents and the school. Under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, parents can request Flexi Schooling in writing. Each request is considered individually by the Headteacher.

Flexi Schooling is normally limited to no more than 20% of a pupil’s attendance and should not exceed 10% of the total school roll. All arrangements are confirmed in writing and reviewed regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who decides if Flexi Schooling is approved?

The Headteacher considers each written request.
