Dumfries & Galloway Music Service are pleased to invite your young musicians to our Come and Play Sessions for the 2024/25 school year.
On four of the dates this year we are pleased to welcome the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (NYOS) Engage project. During these sessions, musicians and NYOS staff will join us at The Bridge supported by the Instrumental Music Service team and our secondary school music teacher colleagues. These dates will be for secondary pupils and all guitarists only.
On all dates, sessions will be at The Bridge, Dumfries. Outside of the NYOS days and our final concert date, we will also be holding rehearsal days in Stranraer Academy for Brass, Guitar, Woodwind, Strings and Percussion. This limits the number of days pupils in the West will travel through to Dumfries. Please indicate if you wish to take up this option in the form.
We are encouraging all young musicians to attend all sessions, however, this is not a requirement. If you can only attend a few, please still sign up.
On the following dates below, from 10am – 3pm:

Community Enterprise are consultants to third sector organisations. They are carrying out a piece of work for Sanquhar Enterprise Company to look at whether the Whigham’s Inn site could be taken into community ownership.
The proposal is that affordable housing could be developed at the site. There could also be space for a commercial use alongside the housing. Sanquhar Enterprise Company is looking for suggestions from the community on what they would like to see at the site. An initial idea is to develop a community owned bunkhouse alongside the housing, but Sanquhar Enterprise Company is open to other ideas that could benefit the community.
If you would like to have a say in this you are invited to complete the community survey – online at this link: https://bit.ly/WhighamsInn
Alternatively, paper copies will be available at Sanquhar Post Office or Brown’s Newsagents, both on the High Street.
