Senior Phase Induction – MVP Training

We are looking forward to welcoming back our Senior Phase Learners on Monday. As part of their induction they will be trained to become MVP Mentors.

Mentors in Violence Prevention in Scottish Schools

Based on the ‘bystander’ approach MVP motivates everyone to get involved in safely challenging abuse. The programme sees students as a school’s greatest resource in achieving this and trains senior pupils to act as peer mentors who then deliver sessions to younger students in the school. Since 2014 more than 10,500 mentors have been trained, with around 3,500 sessions delivered by mentors in 2018/19. Sessions target issues such as bullying, gender norms, domestic violence, knife crime and harmful sexual behaviour.

Presenters across the two days induction include Medics Against Violence and Rape Crisis. cropped-MAV-LOGO-trans-alt.pngRape Crisis Scotland

‘Cash for Kids’ Finale!

It is time to announce the grand finale of our West Sound Cash for Kids School’s Challenge…

On Thursday 31st March, the seniors will be holding an activity day in which students can come in with their non-uniform. A donation of £1 will be accepted on behalf of our Cash for Kids Schools’ Challenge, which we have been participating in for the past week.

In the morning, seniors will come round classes and collect these donations. When doing this, we will also be asking volunteers to participate in a tug of war tournament! The volunteers will be split amongst two teams, in which the leader of one team will be Mr Hannah and the second team leader will be Mr Berry. This will take place during breaktime. Pupils, please come along for some entertainment!

The captain of the team who lose the tug of war will then have their legs waxed ON STAGE by Miss Clark, during lunchtime in the Assembly Hall!

So…Team Hannah or Team Berry?

Good luck!

Jill & Geddes
