We won medals at the cross country running competition at Lochmaben.

 

 

Wednesday 8th May.

Since returning from the Easter Holidays:

We have made omelettes as part of STEAM!

We have practised for Sports Day.

We have prepared for the sprint relay at the Everholm.

 

 

 

Friday 22nd March.

Last week P6 representatives of Elmvale went to Euroquiz which was challenging but fun. They gave up lots of breaks and weekends to prepare with help from Mrs Williamson and Mr Mutch.

Some pupils represented Elmvale at Dumfries Music Festival singing “Castle On A Cloud”.

We have done extra training for cross country Mrs Foster.

We practised for our Feis Rois Concert. We also filmed a video and made comments to go on You Tube.

We raised money by wearing red on Red Nose Day.

Padlet home learning is now available.

 

 

 

 

 

Friday 8th March 2019.

This week  in P6:

We have saved and sent crisp bags for Guide Dogs (see Parliament Section).

We have recited Scots Poems and chosen democratically who will represent P5 & P6 for second level.

We have done end of “Tudors And Stuarts” Topic Quiz and Mind Map.

We had a World Book Day Quiz (we each had the chance to make up a question for this).

We had a quiz off for the Euroquiz team.

We collected and sent off “Bags To School” for recycling which will help raise money for school funds.

 

 

 

Friday 15th February 2019.

This week in P6 we have learned about:

Rich and poor Tudors from primary and secondary sources.

The six wives of Henry VIII, from video clips and songs.

 

We have written detailed reports about our trip to Carlingwark.

We have been developing running and fitness in PE.

We have been practising singing and playing with Feis Rois for a performance.

We have participated in walk to school week.

We have developed our  German speaking skills in particular our pronunciation with support from Mrs Morrison.

 

 

 

 

Friday 1st February 2019

This week in P6 we enjoyed an overnight stay at Carlingwark outdoor Centre, including:

A delicious dinner at The Scottish Pantry

Climbing Screel Hill on a beautiful, sunny, frosty day with magnificent views over our region Dumfries and Galloway.

Orienteering in Dalbeattie Forest, including map reading and looking for the features around us.

Mountain biking including tackling berms and bumps in Dalbeattie Forest.

Looking at the stars above Castle Douglas including the Plough and Orion.

Playing “Empire”. (Photos to follow!)

We also enjoyed playing Scots music on a variety of instruments with Andy and Grant from Feis Rois.

Some of us participated in the “Day of Dance” at Annan Academy, dancing The Circassian Circle, The Waratah Weaver, The Virginia Reel and other dances with other cluster schools.

 

 

Friday 11th January 2019

This week in P6:

  • In groups we designed and built elevators for a competition linked to the Glasgow Science Centre using KNEX materials  ( including making a proto-type). S&M
  • We have new class jobs for term. K
  • We chose and began reading “The Midnight Gang” by David Walliams. as our class novel for snack time. S
  • We all have new group novels to read.
  • We had our first Together Time for 2019.S
  • We used Stile Tiles with Learning Partners to investigate angles. J
  • We learned the “Waratah Weaver “, a Scottish  dance, some of us are going to the “day of Dance” at Annan Academy next month.J
  • We started Feis Rois where we will learn about Scottish songs and culture. we can bring our own instrument for this next Thursday.E
  • Remember AHAG name the 2 boats.

 

 

 

 

 

Friday 21st December.

This week in Primary 6…

We enjoyed teaching  P2/3 to dance with Mrs Foster.

We had a Christmas Singalong with Ms Davis.

We labelled and sold our chutney.

We have been to Church.

We received Twister and LED fun from Santa. Thank you!

We had our Christmas Party.

Some of P6/7 showed us how to make a template and tessellate!

We finished reading our class novel “Island of the Blue Dolphins”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thursday 13th December.

This week in Primary 6…

We have made more props for our School Show.

We have rehearsed for and performed our school Show “Tinhats and Telegrams”.

We have made labels for our chutney ready to sell next week.

We have been dancing in PE.

We gave suggestions and then voted for a class present from Santa: Twister.

We are looking forward to our visit to the cinema and our Christmas Dinner on Friday.

Last week:

We had a visit from Rudolph.

Elmvale was given a real Christmas Tree, which Debbie has decorated beautifully for us!

We had our Show dress rehearsal.

We have been painting scenery and backdrops for our Christmas Show.

We voted for a winner of Elmvale Christmas card competition.

 

 

 

Friday 23rd November 2018.

This week in Primary 6…

We had our Class Assembly: “Poppies And Remembrance” and invited parents and friends.

Second level visited Tesco to taste chutney and to shop for ingredients. There is a recipe for Tomato Chutney included below.

Girls and boys from P6 and P7 represented Elmvale at the sports hall athletics at Moffat.

We have been practising for our Christmas show.
