We have been reinforcing our phonics with activities!
Primary 2/3 Term 1
We had an extremely busy term in Primary 2/3, making patterns, building our sturdy houses, practising number bonds, matching and practising our handwriting! Well done Primary 2/3!
Technology Day 20th June 2018
Primary 2 and 3/4 enjoyed a terrific technology day! The children made pizzas, stuffed sock toys and brick models of their choice.
All children participated with enthusiasm and engaged fully in the activities! The creations were fantastic! Well done boys and girls.
Many thanks to the parents and grandparents who gave their time to come and help us. We could not have done it without your support!
1st June 2018
This term we have been looking at Symmetry in maths and have been learning about what a symmetrical shape looks like, what makes a symmetrical shape or pattern and lines of symmetry as well as creating our own symmetrical patterns.
We have also been outside doing some symmetrical work.
11th May 2018
Term 4 has proven to be a busy term already and we have done so much in P2. We have had a team of physiotherapists in talking about our bodies and bones, a fantastic workshop on “Bricks and Blocks” from Generation Science, a bat presentation and the Edinburgh Archaeology Outreach Project telling us a little about what they do. And that was just in the first couple of weeks back! We have also been practising for our class assembly which we did on Wednesday in front of the whole school. The children were of course all fabulous and I was a very proud teacher.
29th March 2018
What a busy term it has been! We have moved out and back into our classroom and we are now really well settled back into our routine and enjoying being back. It was great to see everyone this week for our “Learning Discussions” and share the learning that has been happening. Last night the children enjoyed the Easter Disco and today they brought in some lovely bonnets and decorated eggs. It was great to see all the hard work that went into these. I hope you all have a lovely break and look forward to seeing you again in the summer term.
14th March 2018
It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were moving out of Primary 2 into our temporary classroom and now we are back and settling in nicely. The children and I were very excited to move back into our classroom. Will post photos soon!
We are learning about angles, position and movement in class at the moment and the children were working in pairs outside giving each other directions (left, right, forwards and backwards). Believe it or not these photos were taken the day before the snow came down!
5th February 2018
We successfully moved into our temporary class at the end of last week. The children have found this quite exciting!
2nd February 2018
We really enjoyed our visit to Annan Museum today where we were able to look at and play with some toys from the 1960s. We were all struck by how some things were so different, no electronic toys and games. But there were still some old favourites like skipping and marbles. We also had the opportunity to go upstairs to the exhibition and look at some very interesting objects. Many thanks to Annan Museum for opening their doors to us.
19th January 2018
Welcome back after the holidays! We have had a busy term already. We were lucky to get a visit from two people from a dairy farm who told us about their job and the journey milk takes from the cow to the fridge. The children really enjoyed this and participated brilliantly! We learned about things we can buy in the supermarket made from milk.
21st December 2017
P2 have been very busy over the last few weeks preparing for the school concert. I am sure you will all agree they did a great job!
We also had a great time at the Christmas Party where there was lots of fun had by all. The children enjoyed party games, dancing and popcorn!
P2 enjoying their Christmas lunch!
Book Week Scotland
We received some Book Bug Bags as part of Book Week Scotland with some books and activities which the children have taken home for you all to enjoy.
P2 have been taking part in a carousel of activities based on measurement.
We had activities for length, weight and capacity.
We have been planting crocus bulbs outside the front of the school which was led by The Rotary Club.
Watch and see how they grow!
In Term 1, as part of our IDL topic “Biodiversity”, we did an experiment to see if a plant could survive without light. As a class we predicted that it would because we were still giving the plant water – our results showed that the plant could not survive without light.
Welcome back after the holidays! This term P2 be looking at “Food and Farming” as our IDL topic. Term 2 is always a busy but fun term.
