{"id":4322,"date":"2019-03-26T11:51:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-26T11:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?p=4322"},"modified":"2019-03-26T11:51:25","modified_gmt":"2019-03-26T11:51:25","slug":"world-war-ii-creativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?p=4322","title":{"rendered":"World War II Creativity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The pupils of P4-7 have rose to the challenge of producing a WWII related resource of their own choosing.\u00a0 The children made models, posters, podcasts, rationing recipes and more!<\/p>\n<p>A range of STEM skills were utilised in the tasks.\u00a0 Here are just a few of the applied skills they have used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>measuring<\/li>\n<li>weighing<\/li>\n<li>cutting<\/li>\n<li>sawing<\/li>\n<li>sticking<\/li>\n<li>combining<\/li>\n<li>decorating<\/li>\n<li>researching<\/li>\n<li>Using IT sofware<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The standard was so high that Barbara had a hard time judging the winner.\u00a0 She selected:<\/p>\n<p>3rd Place &#8211; Maya McNeill for her Anderson Shelter<\/p>\n<p>2nd Place &#8211; Isabella White for her Anderson Shelter cake<\/p>\n<p>1st Place &#8211; Lee Gaunt for his dug out battle scene.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone received &#8216;highly commended&#8217; recognition for their sterling efforts.\u00a0 Thanks go to willing family members who helped, supported and encouraged the children to be independent learners.<\/p>\n<p>As a class, we used Papier Mache to produce our own Anderson shelter model.\u00a0 We also worked with Balsa wood and cardboard to produce our fleet of WWII fighter planes.<\/p>\n<p># Independent Learners<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pupils of P4-7 have rose to the challenge of producing a WWII related resource of their own choosing.\u00a0 The children made models, posters, podcasts, rationing recipes and more!
