{"id":4257,"date":"2019-03-08T15:56:38","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T15:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?p=4257"},"modified":"2019-03-08T15:56:38","modified_gmt":"2019-03-08T15:56:38","slug":"p1-3-celebrate-science-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?p=4257","title":{"rendered":"P1-3 Celebrate Science Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To kick-off the start of the national British Science Week (which runs from 8<sup>th<\/sup>-15<sup>th<\/sup> March), Primary 1-3 pupils held a science afternoon in school which parents were invited to pop along and join in with.<\/p>\n<p>There were several different science activities on offer to participate in, including making a rainbow, a rain cloud, a sycamore helicopter, and a moving car. As we are keen to promote STEM subjects, there were also stations involving K\u2019Nex challenges and the Code \u2019N\u2019 Go Mouse to develop programming skills.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils loved the make a cloud station, where they had to use shaving foam, water and food colouring to simulate a rain cloud &#8211; although half of the shaving foam ended up on pupils\u2019 noses rather than in the jar!!<\/p>\n<p>Thank-you to all the parents who popped in \u2013 everyone had a fab afternoon!<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To kick-off the start of the national British Science Week (which runs from 8th-15th March), Primary 1-3 pupils held a science afternoon in school which parents were invited to pop along and join in with.
