The boys and girls got their Eco Warrior hats on today as we\u00a0conducted a dog fouling survey of our village.\u00a0 The pupils produced tally charts and bar graphs\u00a0of\u00a0the volume of dog fouling in our village\u00a0in four zoned areas.\u00a0 The results were surprising with 13 doggie\u00a0parcels being found in the grassy\u00a0path leading up to Military Road alone!\u00a0 Thankfully, the harbour front area was completely clear.<\/p>\n
The children have taken action by\u00a0applying their persuasive\u00a0writing skills to try to enlist the support of our local Community Council.\u00a0 They\u00a0used technology to\u00a0send emails to the\u00a0Chair\u00a0with suggestions of possible strategies that might be applied, such as\u00a0requesting that our local dog wardens\u00a0carry out more spot inspections in our area.\u00a0 They highlighted the economic impact on tourism if our\u00a0village is\u00a0not appealing to visitors as a result of dog mess.<\/p>\n
We have also contacted the Community Safety\u00a0Team and\u00a0requested they visit us\u00a0to\u00a0help us combat this problem.<\/p>\n
All the pupils are busy creating dog fouling posters that we hope to display in key locations in the village to encourage responsible dog ownership.<\/p>\n
