This term, we were thrilled to welcome the Lighthouse Musicians<\/strong> into Portpatrick Primary School<\/strong> to work with our Primary 1\u20134 pupils<\/strong>. The children had a fantastic time learning all about music, rhythm, and dance<\/strong> through fun, hands-on sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshops, the children discovered how to keep a steady beat and learned about different musical notes, including crotchets<\/strong> (one beat) and quavers<\/strong> (half a beat). They also explored lively Scottish jigs and dances<\/strong>, moving, clapping, and playing along to the music with great enthusiasm!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lighthouse Musicians helped everyone see that music isn\u2019t just about sound \u2014 it\u2019s about teamwork, listening, creativity, and joy<\/strong>. The sessions encouraged pupils to express themselves, develop coordination, and build confidence while learning new skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wonderful experience links to our MetaSkills<\/strong> focus on creativity, communication, and collaboration<\/strong>, as well as the United Nations Global Goals<\/strong> for Quality Education (Goal 4)<\/strong> and Good Health and Wellbeing (Goal 3)<\/strong>. It also connects to our UNCRC Rights<\/strong>, especially Article 29 \u2013 the right to develop talents and abilities<\/strong>, and Article 31 \u2013 the right to relax, play, and take part in cultural and artistic activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge thank you to the Lighthouse Musicians<\/strong> for bringing music to life in our school \u2014 you certainly struck the right note with us! \ud83c\udfb6\u2728<\/p>\n\n\n\n
