Conroy today.\u00a0 She came along to help us keep safe online by offering advice and guidance.<\/p>\n<p>She asked what age the boys and girls got their first mobile phone and this ranged from aged 6 to 10.\u00a0 P.C. Conroy enquired about our usage of online apps such as TikTok and Snapchat, which most children said they have access to.\u00a0 She advised that the recommended minimum age for many social media platforms is usually 13.\u00a0 She highlighted that most parents are vigilant in monitoring their child&#8217;s online activity to ensure that their child is safe.<\/p>\n<p>P.C. Conroy covered aspects such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not sharing personal information online<\/li>\n<li>Only accept friend request from people you know<\/li>\n<li>Report any upsetting or inappropriate content you encounter<\/li>\n<li>Behave responsibily and kindly &#8211; treat online conversations respectful<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy the internet, but make sure you keep yourself safe.<\/li>\n<li>You\u00a0 can always talk to an adult if you have any worries or concerns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We watched an interesting video that shared how amazing the internet can be.\u00a0 It advised us all to <em>share with care<\/em> and be mindful of protecting unplugged time using screen time limits to keep us healthy and engaged IRL.\u00a0 We went through social story scenarios helping us to make appropriate decisions in online chat.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-12987 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?attachment_id=12993'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/portpatrickprimary\/uploads\/sites\/4131\/2023\/02\/08140959\/327269158_944065816754767_7735319985333724578_n-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/portpatrickprimary\/?attachment_id=12992'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/public\/portpatrickprimary\/uploads\/sites\/4131\/2023\/02\/08140957\/325157509_5837844532975142_5063657718234489066_n-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next on the agenda were the activities planned by our digital leaders, Cameron &amp; Max.\u00a0 P5 &#8211; 7 undertook an internet safety quiz where children responded with appropriate actions to a range of online situations.\u00a0 This was followed by their playing <a href=\"https:\/\/beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com\/en_ie\/interland\">Interland<\/a> which \u00a0puts the key lessons of digital safety into hands-on practice with four challenging games.\u00a0 The boys and girls really enjoyed the gaming aspect of this learning resource.
