In 2025 Sanquhar Primary Parent Council were awarded £16254.28 from Whiteside Hill Wind Farm Community Fund, to be used to update an existing sensory room in the school with new equipment. The aim of the project was to provide excellent sensory room facilities for school pupils and the community without the need to travel out with the area. A £5000 donation was also received from an anonymous donor, and funding via Foundation Scotland. The facility provides a safe, calm and stimulating space for each user that helps to engage their senses. This is having a positive impact on each user’s wellbeing. There is also a portable immersive floor system that can be used by groups. Pupils from Kelloholm Primary and Sanquhar Academy can also access the new facility throughout the school day. The sensory room is also available to community groups to use if they feel that the facility would be of benefit to their members.
