North West Community Campus

Background

North West Community Campus is a new school that has been designed and built by Graham Construction.

The new building will see the amalgamation of the nursery and primary schools of St Ninian’s and Lochside along with Maxwelltown High school to create a new, all-through school.

The school has a learning support unit for both primary and secondary aged learners.

Langlands School is incorporated into the North West Community Campus site. Within this part of the building, there are high quality facilities catering for a wide range of complex needs; this includes sensory and soft play rooms, accessible practical and learning areas, a physiotherapy room and a hydrotherapy pool that will be available not only to the young people, but can also be used by members of the community via a booking system.

The school has a well-stocked and resourced library on the first floor which will also be the new community library as well as being used for the school.

The design involved working with staff to understand the needs of the school and its learners.

The learners have also been able to follow the progress of the building from its early stages of site clearance, through the building and landscaping to its completion.

Photographs have been taken at all stages to show progress.
