Over the past month, P.6/7 as part of their literacy learning for listening and talking, have been learning about and working on persuasive writing and transferring this into debating. After two formal group debates, today’s debate was an individual opportunity for each person to choose to be a character/thing they believed was/were very important and had had/made an impact on the world/people. They then needed to persuade the audience through researching and preparing information that they were the most important person/thing that they could not do without, and that this gave them the right to stay in a hot air balloon that needed to get rid of weight (other passengers,) to stay in the air and get to its safe destination. Each member of class worked extremely hard and got into role to be their chosen person/thing, resulting in a very successful debate which was enjoyed by all.
