P1/2 have been learning about food hygiene and preparation.
They made potato soup.
First, they washed their hands and learned some food preparation guidelines. They learned about the different coloured chopping boards for different foods.
They also discussed the safe handling of the kitchen utensils they would use.
They used potatoes, carrots, leeks and onions.
Mrs McClelland’s demonstrations were watched with interest.
Then it was time for the children to chop.
The children discussed the colour, shape and smell of the vegetables.
They learned about the magic ingredient which adds flavour. The next day, Connor remembered about the stock that was added.
They observed the colour changes as the vegetables were boiled. The smell was amazing!
Thank you to Mrs McClelland and Ms Clasper for planning and organising this super activity.
Well done everybody!
