This week the primary 4 were very lucky to have a visitor in from the bank to teach them all about money. They learnt what a budget is and why it is important. In groups, they got the chance to plan a party for someone. They were to stick to a tight budget of £100! They had to think about entertainment, food and venue…for some it was quite tough to stay within budget when they wanted everything!
If you have a party that needs planning, who you gonna call?
P4!!
While the primary 4s were learning about budgeting the primary 3s were all learning about the difference between needs and wants when buying and getting things. They learnt that there were some things that they need to survive and other things that they just like and want to have for fun.
They also did their own mini budgeting activity and they had to look after a pet. They have to know 9 things that their pets needed to live and how much each one would cost. They then had to look at their budget and see if they could afford everything. Some of them had to re-think what their pets really needed.
