Steven Jewell
Acting Headteacher

Responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the school, developing and improving the school, and communicating about the school

Steven started his teaching career as an English and Media teacher, before moving into the area of Pupil Support. He was Principal Teacher of Pupil Support (Barriers to Learning) at Maxwelltown High School before taking on a secondment as Head of School at Elmbank Centre. Steven then became responsible for Primary and Secondary Inclusion across Dumfries and Galloway, as well as looked-after children. Since 2019, Steven has been a Supporting Learners Manager, liaising with secondary schools across the region in relation to Additional Support Needs and Secondary Inclusion matters. He joined Langlands School as Acting Headteacher in March 2022.

Emma MacKay
Acting Principal Teacher

Responsible for the operational leadership and management of the pupil experience, and meeting pupil needs

Emma is a familiar face in Langlands. She has been a teacher here for many years. Emma is a trained Physio, and her background served her well when she then trained as a Primary Teacher. Emma has worked in a number of Dumfries and Galloway schools including Collin, Eastriggs and Loreburn Primary, but found her calling when she joined Langlands. Emma was previously Acting Principal Teacher during COVID, and has taken on the role again as of August 2022.
