Charley
Service will be within all the classes through the course of her time with us as she looks at a possible future career in
teaching. Charley is in school on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We also have Halle Drysdale who will be within
Nursery and P1-4 and is thinking about a career in early years. Halle is with us on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. It
is always such a pleasure to welcome and support past pupils where we can in the next stage of their journey. It has
also really supported our discussion about future careers and skills we will use as part of developing the young
workforce.

Assembly this week focused on our religious observance calendar of honesty and how we couldn’t take a ‘fib’ back
once we had said it. We had a reminder of all the work we have done for UNCRC and the focus on October’s article of
the month, Article 3-The right to an education. Our discussion centred around the current situation in Jamaica & Cuba
with the impact of Hurricane Melissa. The children showed really insightful understanding and awareness of how children and their families might be feeling at this time. AP1 said ’The children have their toys.’ and other commented on
no house, food or clean water as well as no school to go to.

Everyone made a fantastic effort today for Hallowe’en, it was great to see so many fantastic costumes. Thank you for
supporting us in this as P7 have worked hard. They judged the costumes this morning with prizes for most creative and
scariest. Our winners were:
P1-3 –Anna & Mirren
P4-5-JoJo & Carson
P6-7-Gracie & joint –Lizzie & Rebecca
We hope that everyone has a great time guising and remembers to stay safe and dry.

We are also about to launch our new Veg Power focus for this year which is Bean Boost. More information will follow
but over the next 3 weeks we will be encouraging the children to try meals with beans & pulses to promote more fibre
in our diet and the importance of bowel health.

As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need anything at all email me on
gw08andrewskirsty@ea.dumgal.sch.uk

‘Together we succeed’
Kirsty Andrews
Partner Headteacher

Dear Parent/Carer Welcome back, the children all seem full of chat following the October break and have been full of Hallowe’en excitement.
