Dear Parent/Carer
What a busy and fun filled week we have had. By my tracker we walked over 20 miles over the three days and we certainly took in the sights. Firm favourites remain the Science Centre, 10 pin bowling & the cinema. With others full of chat about the trampoline park. What they don’t realise is they are walking and learning in a city environment amongst people of every religion and culture. They are learning to be aware of traffic, busy shops and how to keep their money and belongings safe. They were learning how to budget and make their shopping trip be the most successful it could be. It is such a pleasure to watch their quiet confidence grow during this time and although we all returned tired and weary a good time was had by all. Once again the children were praised for their good manners, respectful nature and listening skills. They represented themselves, you their families and our schools extremely well and should remember the importance of this and how good it makes you feel when someone praises and acknowledges your efforts. I hope they returned full of stories and memories and have built confidence to return to the city and enjoy all that it has to offer one day. I cannot thank our staff enough for giving up their time and being away from their families to allow our children to have 3 fun filled days in Glasgow. This thanks also extends to the staff who remained at school who kept everything running so smoothly whilst we were away knowing the schools were in safe hands.
We missed the prize giving for the netball league on Wednesday as we were away. I am delighted to say that our fantastic Kirkcowan team finished in second place. This is so well deserved and the team should be extremely proud of their achievement but also their team spirit and positive attitude. We have success to share too from the awards. Player from the league for our school team was Milly & Gracie received most improved defender in the league. Well done girls, this recognition is well deserved.
Last night we also fielded a tired partnership girls team who gelled together really quickly and were amazing. We won a match, drew two and lost one so we were delighted with our efforts. Well done.
This week we have also had Lighthouse Musicians perform a concert for the whole school. This was a real treat to sit back & enjoy. P1-3 have enjoyed this most of the year but this time everyone got to sit back and be inspired by Beth & Claire.
Looking ahead P7s are off to the DEHS next week Wed 25th –Fri 27th. There is a parent talk at the DEHS on Monday evening from 6-7pm. Our classes will move up on Wednesday & Thursday mornings with our new P1s visiting at this time.
