Dear Parent/Carer
We end what has been a week of wild weather with an extremely cold and bitter wind which is definitely giving us a wind
chill factor. Looking ahead to next week our forecast is beginning to show colder temperatures so we ask that all children
remember to bring a coat and hat and gloves too. We are looking forward to getting outside of we do get bright, cold
days.
Our parent council met on Wednesday night and the minutes will follow soon. We discussed the proposed budget
saving that have been circulated through social media and talked about on the radio, newspapers and television. If you
are not aware pleas use the links below to read all about it & then follow the link to have your say. It is important that
people from everywhere in Dumfries & Galloway have their say.

Our assembly this week was Children in Need and led by Bladnoch Committee. They shared the importance of Children
in Need in supporting children and families who suffer bereavement, mental health or need access to activities. Sophie
summed it up by saying it supports children to be Safe, Healthy & Happy. They had also planned 3 activities based
around 25 as it is 25 years since CiN started. So this morning the children from Nursery to P7 rotated in their house
groups round 1. decorate Pudsey with 25 things( spots/stripes/hearts) 2. decorate a biscuit with 25 3. 25 reps of sporty
activities-challenge. A huge thank you to Finlay, Rebecca & Sophie for leading these activities. They also shared that Child
in Need links with UNCRC and article 19-proteced from harm & Article 24 –the right to be safe & healthy with access to
food, housing and clean water. We finished our assembly in the hall with a focus on Meta Skills. All of the classes now have a display highlighting the 12 skills we use in learning, life and work. The children are beginning to become much more confident in using them and we are gathering photographs to highlight where we use the skills in schools. This week our pupils of the week Grace showed integrity and Archie showed leadership, two of our meta skills.
Due to the awful weather we held our 2 minute silence as a whole school in the hall. The children were all really respectful
and could discuss why it was important. Then on Wednesday the P7s laid the wreath at the war memorial representing the school and Esme & Anna laid the wreath for Rainbows and Brownies.
Next week is Scottish Book Week and there will be activities for the children to take part in during school.
As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need anything at all email me on
