Dear Parent/Carer
We started this week with assembly on Tuesday focusing on UNCRC and our action plan towards Gold Rights
Respecting School. We chatted about the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable development.

The P7s then asked to lead their house groups in discussion which Global Goal they would like to take forward as our focus for this year. The P6/7 steering group will meet with Mrs McWhirter and then share their
plans with everyone. We also all worked together to update our Playground Charter, making sure we have
the action of the Rights Holders and Duty Bearers clearly explained. We will feed back to you soon on which
Global Goal they have decided we should focus on this year.
This week, also on Tuesday, P4-7 had an amazing experience with Kofi who lives in London but is originally
from Ghana. He led an African drumming workshop and the children all participated with enthusiasm. The
session finished listening to Ghanian music and learning dances. The children were all extremely enthusiastic
and talked really positively about the experience.
Nursery & P1-4 then had Lighthouse Musicians today for an other session, exploring musical notation and
songs and rhymes.
Looking ahead to next week, we have Remembrance Day on Tuesday. We will hold a short service at the war
memorial. Weather permitting it will be the whole school, if wet P7 will lay the wreath on behalf of the
school.
Our next Parent Council meeting is on Wednesday at 6.30pm. Please remember that everyone is welcome.
