Today the children took part in a whole school assembly all about World Environmental Day 2025.  The focus this year was all about Plastics and the new message of

Refuse

Reduce

Reuse

Recycle

Re-think plastic use

The children took part in some excellent discussions about the amount of plastic created each year (400 million tonnes per year) of which half is single use plastics and of that only 10% is actually recycled (The children enjoyed the mental maths questions too!)

The children then watched a video about Microplastics and how they are affecting the seas, rivers and lochs.

At the end of the assembly, the children agreed a mini action plan which included:

Pick up some litter if you are at the beach

Recycle as much as we can

Make sure we put our rubbish in the bin

Do a litter pick

Take your rubbish home

Use less single use plastics
