Dear Parent/Carer
What a busy few weeks we have had along with a change in the weather.

Last week saw our netball team playing extremely well against some tough competition. We have continued
our run of being undefeated ahead of our final league night. A huge thank you to our extra players who have
been encouraged to come along, they have all added a valuable contribution to the team. P5/6 continue to
enjoy forest schools with Shalla and Nursery & P1-4 enjoyed another visit from Lighthouse Musicians. Sports
day was rained off but our fete happened on Saturday 31st with a strong wind keeping the rain away. An
enormous thank you to all the parent council and community volunteers who alongside staff held another
extremely successful fete. The park was a busy place and the buzz was just lovely. Please send my thanks to
everyone who donated, set up, tidied away and came along to support us. Along with thanks for our funding
from Kilgallioch Windfarm and KCDT and the BBQ from Kirkcowan Community Council. This enabled us to
raise an amazing profit of £1300, this will benefit all the children in the school look out for what they decide
to spend the money on next session.

This week we prepare for the upcoming Glasgow Trip for P6/7 with two well attended talks at Kirkcowan &
Wigtown. I have sent my PowerPoint for the sessions along with this newsletter to be sent out to you as I
know not everyone was able to attend. You should all have now received the letters requesting further
information regarding meals and also consent for medication, trampolining etc.
Nursery held a successful Grand Prix and they are raising money towards their new outdoor shelter.
Then despite long range weather forecasts sports day 2 was a great success. The weather held for the
duration of the whole sports and despite some dubious skills in the egg and spoon race the children competed with passion and determination but there was sportsmanship too. Well to done to all the children who
showed resilience throughout. Then after school we had the final of the football league. Kirkcowan had
showed real commitment and skill throughout finishing top of the league, we are all so proud of that
achievement. However the system runs that there are then play offs and despite some brilliant skills and
teamwork it wasn’t Kirkcowan’s night and we finished in 4th place overall.

Next week P5 are off on their final trip to the hatchery on Tuesday. P2 are off to potted sports on Wednesday
and we also have our final netball league night too. The on Thursday we have a virtual interview for our Digital Schools Award. This is all thanks to Mr Thomson’s hard work and determination who alongside the digital
leaders have upskilled all staff and children. We will let you know the outcome of our chat. Then on Thursday
we hope to have a partnership girls football team at Best of the West. Lots of fun and activities too as the
term progresses through June.

As always please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need anything at all email me on
