Excited to be seeing everyone again this week 🙂  These are the stones which P1-4 decorated at the end of term for the Middlebie and Waterbeck Show which is I believe is today! Good Luck to all who entered things that they did at home as well.

French Café Taste Testing
On Tuesday afternoon P1-4 tried out croissants ready for their French Café which is being held on Friday afternoon at 2:15pm. The general verdict was that croissants are delicious and the apricot jam was the best jam ever!
Lego WeDo Master Class P1-4
Better late than never they say so I hope that might be true!
The P1-4 Hottsbridge and Eaglesfield pupils who were in the Lego WeDo Mater Class were a joy to work with. They worked really well together and showed great resilience when the technology was being temperamental and when the programming was tricky and required some serious thinking. Well done all! The model here was made in our last week and was able to go in a straight line and round curves! It is made up of two smarthubs and two motors and various bits of Lego.
World Book Day
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day by bringing in our favourite book. In small teams the pupils then had to try to work out whose book was whose and why! It was very impressive how many were guessed correctly and what good reasons were given. Along the way we learned lots about each other. We finished off with a few rounds of some very challenging World Book Day quizzes.
Creating Futures Crown In P1-4
Across the partnership we are focusing on developing a nurturing ethos and on developing a growth mind set in all learners. As part of this, each day, one child tries to spot a classmate who is showing a good attitude. There are many attributes they can spot: being positive, keeping going when it gets hard, being a good team member, helping someone else etc. In Hottsbridge P1-4 the child chosen at the end of each day gets to wear the “Creating Futures Crown” the next day! (We made our crown together using lots of origami squares!)
Unifix Snake
P1 and P2 had fun in free time building this Unifix Snake that stretched the length of the classroom! Together we worked out how many cubes they had used by counting how many cubes in a metre, how many metres long it was and then multiplying. The trouble is this was last week and I’ve forgotten the answer! I’m hoping one of the pupils remembers and posts a reply! There was lots of great teamwork and cooperation. Well done P1 and P2!
