Swimming Gala 2019

On Saturday (16th of June) some P4-7 pupils competed in an Active schools Swimming gala. We swam all different strokes such as front crawl, back crawl, breastroke and butterfly. We were in the small schools section. Also some of us won our heat and moved on to the finals!!!! It was an extremely fun day and very busy. Eleanor competed in the disability race and won front crawl and back crawl!!! We are very proud of her. Also Isla got second in back crawl. She was so close from getting 1st :(. Kayla got third in butterfly and it was also very close as well.

And to top it up, Hottsbridge won the small schools category over all!!!!!

Well done to everyone who competed.

Drew also went with his young team. They didn’t win but had fun and will be back stronger next year.

The next thing we did was beanbag race were you put a bean bag on your head and run to the finish line . afterwards we sat on the mats and heard the announcement to witch team had the most points . The points work by if you come 1st you get 3 points if you come 2nd you get 2 points and lastly if you come 3rd you will get 1 point . Red team won with 165 points.

Selling My Calves

On Monday the 13/5/19 I went to Dumfries Market to sell my calves. When we got there we dropped the calves off and went for a look around the other cattle. Then we got breakfast and I got a can of coke for my breakfast (yum!). Then the sale started at 11:30 and my calves were 3rd in the ring. On average I made £57.58 per calf.

Sheep mount running competition

On Saturday the 25th of May I went to sheep mount running track in Carlisle. I entered long jump, 150 metres and 75 meters. First I did my 150 meters which I got 4th place! I was really pleased with myself. After that I did long jump (my best jump was 3 meters and 50 centimetres) which my mum and grand dad were very pleased about it. My final performance was the 75 meters I didn’t do as well but I was still amazed that I can jump 3 meters and 50 cm and also getting 4th place in my 150 meters. In the future I hope to find my perfect distance in my  running.

Lockerbie Gala Football Festival

On Monday the 3rd of June 2019 I went up to Lockerbie for the annual Lockerbie Gala tournament. There were 16 teams consisting of France, USA, Brazil & a load of other teams. I was in Brazil & we had a pretty good team including a few of my mates. In the group stage each team played 3 games of 10 mins & the top 2 in each group went through as well as the two best 3rd place teams. Brazil won all 3 games winning 3-1 to France, 9-0 against Nigeria & 4-2 against Norway. I got 10 goals altogether in the group stage but I also played a game for Nigeria because they only had 3 players going into their 3rd game. I scored in that & got an assist however we lost 5-2 but I wasn’t to concerned because I knew my team had already got through. After the group stage we went to the round of 16 & were matched up with a hard opponent. They had a few of my friends however we matched them & got a 1-1 draw which took it to penalties! I had scored in the game but sadly scored an own goal (according to the ref) going into pens. I scored mine & so did the next few players until my team missed 1 & the other team missed 2! This put us through to the semi-finals where I scored a hat-trick to get us a 3-1 win. This left us in the final! Brazil had to win or we got 2nd…….

We went 1-0 up through a penalty goal from me however the USA clinched 1 back to make it 1-1. With 5  mins to go I scored 2 to get the win for Brazil! That left me with 17 goals in 6 games going to the trophy presentation. First up was female player of the tournament & a girl in my team won it. Shortly after was the male player of the tournament & I won that. I was proud but I knew the presentation wasn’t over so I composed myself. Next up was the winners joint-captains trophy. Me & my mate Ali were captains so we went up to collect the trophy. We agreed that he could have the cup for 6 months & then I would have it for the next 6 months. It was a great night & I was proud of my team. Now I’m looking forward to the 4th of June penalty tournament!
