{"id":2780,"date":"2024-09-03T13:32:53","date_gmt":"2024-09-03T12:32:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/healthandwelbeing\/?page_id=2780"},"modified":"2025-07-08T15:36:31","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T14:36:31","slug":"junior-road-safety-officers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/healthandwelbeing\/?page_id=2780","title":{"rendered":"Junior Road Safety Officers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Junior Road Safety Officers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) play a very important part in primary schools.\u00a0 The purpose of JRSOs is to raise road safety awareness and promote road safety issues to everyone within their primary school and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some activities that JRSOs can get involved in to bring road safety matters to everyone\u2019s attention are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Talk to classes and at assemblies regarding road safety topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run competitions within their school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organise safe and active travel activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote road safety by displaying posters or noticeboards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jrso.com\">www.jrso.com<\/a> website for ideas and news. There is a members only area on this website, you will need your school code to access this. If you email Lilianne Pool (<a href=\"mailto:lilianne.pool@dumgal.gov.uk\">lilianne.pool@dumgal.gov.uk<\/a>) she will be able to provide you with your schools code <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>75% of Scotland\u2019s schools are JRSO schools.
