The aim of the Whole Family Support Service is to provide support in a different way, making people and families the heart of everything we do. The service provides general support to families in targeted areas of Dumfries and Galloway experiencing poverty. The support can vary from accessing services, budgeting, increasing income, attending appointments and advocacy to name a few. The workers are not there to simply signpost but to walk with the families on their journey to ensure that they are getting the right support for them.

The service primarily is for families in the 4 following areas,

  • Upper Nithsdale
  • Stranraer
  • Annan
  • Summerhill, Summerville, Lochside, Lincluden, Dumfries Town Centre or Locharbriggs.

It is extremely important that the family are wanting support and willing to engage. The support is primarily but not exclusively for those who are not currently engaged with other services as we want to target the hardest to reach.

If a family experiencing Poverty is not in the above listed areas but is also wanting support we can consider a referral if they fall into one of the following priority groups.

  • Lone Parent families
  • Minority Ethnic families
  • Families with a disabled adult or child
  • Families with a mother under the age of 25
  • Families with a child under 1
  • Larger families with 3 or more children.

We currently have 5 workers covering these 4 areas , we intend to keep caseloads relatively small to ensure we can provide intensive support where required. If you want to make a referral please use the following link  Fairer Futures Referral. We accept both self-referrals and referrals from external agencies ( use the same link for both) .

Alternatively, if you would like any further information or to discuss any potential referrals, please contact Lead Officer Albert Spencer at albert.spencer@dumgal.gov.uk
