School \u2013 Wednesday 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0August<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I hope you are well.\u00a0 There is great excitement in the air at Gelston Primary School as we prepare for the return of all pupils tomorrow (Wednesday 12<sup>th<\/sup> August)!\u00a0 We are really looking forward to seeing you all and hope that all pupils settle as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Council has two webpages which set out general guidelines and procedures.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Re-opening of Schools<br \/>\n<a have some flexibility in how to meet these guidelines.\u00a0 Here are a few more updates before tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Start of the School Day\/ Wet Weather Arrangements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To avoid congestion at the school gates, pupils should make their way to their assigned classroom door when the bell rings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P1-3 (Miss Drummond) \u2013 Main school entrance<\/p>\n<p>P4-7 (Miss Reid and Mrs Maxwell) \u2013 Entrance beside classroom at the side of the building<\/p>\n<p>In the event of wet weather, pupils should still make their way to their designated door.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Parents in School Grounds\u00a0\/ Contact with the School<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Council Website states that no parents will be allowed inside school grounds with the exception of new Primary 1 pupils.\u00a0 I would also like to make an exception for parents of newly enrolled pupils and also parents of pupils who have additional support needs.\u00a0 You may enter the playground.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to contact the school then please contact us via telephone or email before arriving in person.\u00a0 All visitors to the school building will be asked for their contact details according to the Test and Protect guidance.\u00a0\u00a0Hand sanitiser will be at all entry points to the school and should be used by all visitors.\u00a0This would include\u00a0when handing items in to the school office for example.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Car Park<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am aware that it can get quite congested at the school gate so I would ask that adults maintain 2m distancing at all times.\u00a0 Please remind pupils to maintain a 2m distance from adults too.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\u00a0should not\u00a0park in the school staff car park.\u00a0 Please try to park further down the road and walk up to school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>School Meals<\/strong><strong>\u00a0and Water Bottles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils will have school meals in the dining hall in two sittings:<\/p>\n<p>P1-3 from 12.15pm-1pm<\/p>\n<p>P4-7 from 12.45pm \u2013 1.30pm<\/p>\n<p>For the first three days, only a cold option will be available with a choice of a sandwich\/ wrap with a meat filling or a vegetarian filling.\u00a0 We will return to the normal D&amp;G School meals menu from Monday 17<sup>th<\/sup> August.\u00a0 The full menu can be located using this link:<\/p>\n<p><a meals are free for P1-3 pupils and cost \u00a31.90 for P4-7 pupils.\u00a0 We will provide each family with school dinner money envelopes.\u00a0 You should send any money in a sealed envelope\u00a0with your\u00a0child\u2019s name, class and amount.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle to school. Please label it with their name and ensure it is filled at home.\u00a0 We cannot provide cups in school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the Classroom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Face coverings (or masks) do not need to be worn by pupils when they are in school or in the school playground.\u00a0 Any child within\u00a0the\u00a0school wishing to wear a face mask can\u00a0do so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hand sanitiser and wipes will be available in all classes and other areas throughout the school.
