Inclusive Community

Circle Framework

A self-evaluation toolkit was created which schools can use to evaluate where they are on their inclusive practice journey.  This is based on the Circle Framework.   The evaluative questions from the Circle framework have been added to an MSForm to allow ease of gathering and analysing the information.

Each school was provided with an individual link in April 2023 which they could use within their own setting. A primary and a secondary sway has been created as a guide on how to use the MSForm and as a signpost to further information on the Circle Framework.

On request a report can be generated which can be used:

  • As a baseline measure
  • To inform SIP
  • Collegiately as a whole school
  • Individually to inform PRDs

If HTs wish to be reminded of their MSForm link or would like to request a report – please email nicola.dalgliesh@dumgal.gov.uk

The resources in the bubbles at the top of this section can then offer whole school/individual professional learning to enhance inclusion within settings.

Reducing Poverty in D&G and Supporting the Most Vulnerable People

Through Young Eyes – Poverty in D&G

Through Young Eyes is a short film produced by young people in Dumfries and Galloway
that explores children and young people’s perceptions of poverty and their own lived
experiences of poverty.
The film explores the perceptions and lived experiences of child poverty, through the eyes
of children and young people in the region and can be used in Schools with teachers,
support staff and with pupils themselves to explore the reality of child poverty in Dumfries
and Galloway.
The steering group of young people responsible for the film created it to support the
continuation of the conversations about poverty in the region.
“We made this film to help people understand what it’s really like to grow up in poverty. We
want this to be more than just a screening – please share it, talk about it, and keep the
conversation going. That’s the only way we’re going to see real change.”
The Through Young Eyes Steering Group was supported by Dumfries and Galloway
Council’s Youth Work Service, and you can contact the Youth Work Service if you would
like to discuss the film further or how it can be used within Schools. You can contact them
on youth.work@dumgal.gov.uk
