Differentiation in the Classroom

When planning for Differentiation, its important to think about the why.

Why am I differentiating? and

What will the impact be for my pupils?

It should not just be an add on to your teaching that you do to show you can differentiate. Often when teachers first think of differentiation, they think that they will need several versions of the same worksheet, however that is by no means the meaning or the culture of differentiation. Differentiation should not be an add on to your teaching, such as making one worksheet and changing bits for different pupils, nor should it be something you do at the last minute such as telling pupils in a lesson to do something different. The key to Differentiation is to know your pupils and plan your teaching to meet each pupils needs in advance of lessons.
