If quoting a child, young person, parent or carer, use quotation marks.\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"color:#2f6f73;border-bottom:2px solid #2f6f73;padding-bottom:6px\">\n  Using SEEMiS \/ Pastoral Notes<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  SEEMiS Latest Pastoral Notes should be used to record relevant and significant events relating to children and young people, including wellbeing concerns and incidents that may impact on the child or young person.\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color:#f7f7f7;border-left:5px solid #555;padding:22px;margin:18px 0;font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  <strong style=\"font-size:20px\">When recording a racial incident, staff should consider:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n<li>Is this event likely to impact on the child or young person?<\/li>\n<li>How might this event make the child or young person feel?<\/li>\n<li>Has a similar event happened previously?<\/li>\n<li>Is there a pattern of behaviour or repeated concern?<\/li>\n<li>Does this increase risk or wellbeing concerns?<\/li>\n<li>Are further actions, support or referrals required?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"color:#2f6f73;border-bottom:2px solid #2f6f73;padding-bottom:6px\">\n  Health &amp; Safety Reporting<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  Health &amp; Safety colleagues have advised that schools are expected to report racial incidents through the Health &amp; Safety Portal in certain circumstances.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  This includes racial abuse directed towards staff and may also include pupil-on-pupil incidents. However, incidents should still be recorded and advice should be sought where staff are unsure.\n<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color:#2f6f73;border-bottom:2px solid #2f6f73;padding-bottom:6px\">\n  Working with Parents and Carers<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  Parents and carers should be informed in line with school procedures, unless there are specific safeguarding reasons not to do so.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;line-height:1.8\">\n  Where Police Scotland is involved, schools should notify families of police involvement where appropriate.
