For a request to be agreed there will usually be a child\u2019s plan, evidence of intervention already tried and a role for an Educational Psychologist that cannot be met by a one-off consultation. We cannot become involved without evidence of parental consent. Demand for our service is very high and we do prioritise based on needs. Educational Psychologists are employed by the local authority and are not a health service. We specialise in child<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"container_j8JWmd-2KM3\" class=\"container \">\n<div class=\"text_wrapper TextBodyNone color_TextUnemph\">\n<p id=\"paragraph_4Cm6Z_zShT8\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_Tyzpw-HNEl4\" class=\"\">development, education, additional support needs and the development of potential. This does include emotional wellbeing and mental health but we are not a mental health service. We do work with health colleagues in supporting children and young people. This includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, paediatricians, CAMHS and clinical psychology. CAMHS practitioners are not always Psychologists. Their role relates specifically to the mental health of children and young people. Referral to health services, including CAMHS and Clinical Psychology, is completely independent of our service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"container_mVVhMM02Qj6\" class=\"container \">\n<div id=\"container_wv-P1N1YZGC\" class=\"container \" role=\"heading\">\n<div id=\"container_6aK9ed5l9bC\" class=\"container \">\n<div class=\"text_wrapper SubheadingEmph color_TextEmph\">\n<p id=\"paragraph_FF3b76bCzH6\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span id=\"text_edUwSBloW1A\" class=\"\">Does an Educational Psychologist diagnose things like ADHD and Autism?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"container_pad-RF7zrh2\" class=\"container \">\n<div id=\"container_Tg-XHcDRdE3\" class=\"container \">\n<div id=\"container_bUSv2Ko6lk2\" class=\"container \">\n<div class=\"text_wrapper TextBodyNone color_TextUnemph\">\n<p id=\"paragraph_dl_-GOrKkA0\" dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"text_AD2OdQ9UVt8\" class=\"\">ADHD and Autism are medical diagnoses which are identified by medical professionals. An Educational Psychologist might be involved in gathering information which helps inform a diagnosis as part of a team around a child.
