Pocket Garden Winner!

I am delighted to let you know that after the voting process, we have been awarded the Wildlife Gardening theme Certificate of Achievement in this year’s Pocket Garden competition.

P1/2 have worked so hard on this and we are so proud to have won this award. Kirsty’s help has been invaluable and we are very thankful for all the work she has put in with us every week.

We would also like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us.

Thanks

Pocket Garden Design Competition

Primary 1/2 have been selected as one of the winners of the Pocket Garden design competition! The competition is run by Keep Scotland Beautiful in partnership with the Garden for Life Forum.
The challenge was to design a miniature garden that uses edible plants, plants that attract wildlife, and to reuse something which would otherwise have been thrown away.

The themes were Our Heritage, One Planet Picnic and Wildlife Gardening so we had to show what we want to celebrate through our Pocket Garden. With Kirsty as our gardening advisor, we chose to celebrate Wildlife Gardening. We are very thankful for all her help and support and she is going to help us throughout the build and growing stage too.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to investigate plants and food, develop creative design skills and apply that knowledge to creating a sustainable garden while working a s a team.

As you can imagine, we are thrilled to have been chosen and are now looking forward to building our design. The garden will be around the size of a wooden pallet and will be photographed or filmed to feature in an online showcase for a public vote on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website between 13 June to 23 June. Keep watching our school blog and Class Dojo for updates on progress and a reminder of when you can go and vote!

Thanks

Class Pets

A few days ago the P5-7 class got salmon eggs and now almost all of them have hatched!

The entire school was thrilled by them, but sadly a couple of them died before they hatched.

Now the salmon are called fry’s. We were given the salmon eggs by Morag who works for Nith catchment fishery trust.

P5/6/7 Salmon Eggs

P5/6/7  have been given Salmon eggs by the Nithdale River Trust, we were excited. The whole Class have watched them hatch into some baby salmon on the 2nd week of having them. The white things on the filter are the empty eggs that have hatched by Ella😝 /Harley🤓
