A message from Dr Gillian Brydson, Executive Director Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I am delighted to introduce you to the website and prospectus for DG Schools Connect<\/strong>, our digital school bringing increased option choices to secondary pupils across Dumfries and Galloway.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Many of our learners are educated in rural and remote schools and many of our schools are also very small with less than 400 pupils. This makes it difficult to ensure a wide and equitable range of subject offers especially in the Senior Phase. In the past some pupils have been able to access the subjects they need by travelling to nearby schools through consortia arrangements but for many this is just not viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In common with many local authorities across Scotland we are now able to offer access to a wide range of subjects through live online classes delivered by teachers in our schools. All secondary schools in Dumfries and Galloway have now aligned their school timetable structures to make this a real possibility.\u00a0 DG Schools Connect will be live from June 2026<\/strong> and will complement other online offers from our existing partners giving our young people the widest choice possible as they embark on the final stages of their secondary career.\u00a0 Participation in the programme will also ensure young people and staff have the opportunity to develop essential digital skills required for learning, life and work. We have been at the forefront of digital delivery in conjunction with the Ayrshire authorities for the last few years and have received national\u00a0recognition of the positive outcomes for our learners<\/strong><\/a>. This gives us a tried and tested platform for DG Schools Connect to build from (see attainment story and stakeholder feedback below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This prospectus will provide detailed information on the subjects on offer and how the programme will work in practice. I hope this information is helpful in setting out how we can work together to benefit learners and make sure they have the best possible experience at school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
