Profiles are primarily aimed at learners and their parents and draw together a range of information about a child or young person’s learning. It is one of the ways in which a learner’s achievements can be recognised.

The process of profiling is ongoing and progressive for all learners throughout their school years (2-18yrs). It is important that profiling is seen within the context of career education.

Parents and carers can find out more about pupil profiles from Parentzone Scotland:

P7 Profiles

S3 Profiles

This provides information on how as a parent you can support your child’s decisions by encouraging them to talk about their strengths, skills and interests.

In Nursery, your child will have a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) or ‘Special Book’; this may be in an online platform.

This will be a record of your child’s progress and achievements throughout their time in nursery and will include photographs, samples of work and staff comments.

Your child will be involved in creating their PLP and talking about their learning. Young people should have produced their own profile, supported by staff, which gives a reliable and full account of their progress and achievements to date. It should include a focus on what they feel are their latest and best successes and the skills they have developed. Parents and carers should know why this is produced and support their child in the process.

Prev page

Home page

Next page

Pupil Profiles A pupil profile is a snapshot of a child’s or young person’s best achievements at a given point in time.
