Can you believe it is Sunday again? I don’t know what happens to the weekends..
Your Learning Grid for the week ahead is at the bottom of this post. Chinese New Year is on Friday 12th February-there are some tasks on the grid. A recipe book is attached below the grid if anyone wants to try some Chinese cooking?!
Please check pupil emails for the reading tasks.
Have fun! We look forward to seeing all the photographs of your learning this week.
If any links do not work, please contact me by email or Dojo messages.
Thank you again to all our learners and their supporters for the brilliant work that is being completed.
Here is the grid for the week ahead. The 1st-7th February is Children’s Mental Health week and all of the daily challenges this week will be centred on this theme.
Please check the pupil emails for information about reading and the associated reading activities.
Please keep in touch and keep sending us pictures of the fun and learning adventures you are all having.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if we can be of any assistance.
Here are the links to the documents:

Thank you again for the fantastic work you are all completing. There is such a lot of work and learning happening.
Miss Holman will continue to send out daily challenges and Mrs Howie has sent out the emails to the pupils about reading and reading activities.
We look forward to seeing the fun, games and learning adventures this week brings. I wonder if we will get any more snow?
Thank you for completing so much work. It has been fantastic to see all the wonderful learning that has been going on. Attached below is our class learning grid for this week. It’s at the very bottom of the message in this post.
Mrs Howie has sent emails to each pupil with more information about reading activities. Please check your emails regularly, this is a great opportunity for the children to be learning how to do this and remembering their usernames and passwords for Glow.
We will also be posting regular updates and activities on Dojo. Please continue to check Dojo throughout the week. Miss Holman will be sending out daily challenges again this week. These will be posted by 9.30am every day.
We are loving seeing all the activities that you are all completing. When you are sharing your learning with us, you can do one of two things. You could write us a short message and/or send us a photograph as an attachment in an email OR you could upload a photo to Dojo. If you are uploading a picture to Dojo, please do this direct on your child’s portfolio. It will then come to us to accept and then it will appear later.
The expressive arts box has more than one activity for Art and PE. We are not asking you to complete all the tasks. We are trying to provide some choice so the children can look at the activities and choose the option that appeals most to them. If they wish, they can complete more than one. The Sumdog Challenge box also has another option, again to provide choice. There is no need to complete the Challenge and the Launch pads, but they are there if your child wishes.
The BBC CBBC channel has a great schedule for primary children.
Remember if you have any questions or need extra help, please do contact us. Mrs Howie will be in school each day and can speak over the phone if that is easier.
It appears that the link for the seasons worksheets aren’t working.
Please use the links below.
Good morning everyone. We are very sorry that we don’t have you in school with us to do our learning together and to chat about how your holidays were. We hope you all had a good Christmas and had some lovely presents.
Attached below is our class learning grid for this week. It’s at the very bottom of the message in this post. In the boxes there are links to click on to go to various website activities.
Please also open your emails regularly to check your inbox. Mrs Howie has sent emails to each pupil with more information about reading activities. There will be further login details in the email. Login details for Glow were sent out in envelopes back in September when we had the homework task to email Mrs Howie. Also in the envelope, there were login details for Sumdog and Education City. This week, we are not using Education City but we will do so in future weeks. If anyone has lost their logins please contact us to let us know and we can re-issue them.
We will also be posting regular updates and activities on Dojo so please make sure each Monday that you check, not only the school blog home learning page for the grid, but also Dojo and pupil emails.
Please also note that although we do not have a PE activity on our grid, the activities will be available to follow with Mrs Gray on the school blog main page. https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/dg/dalbeattieprimaryschoolblog/home-learning-mrs-gray-p-e/
Also, this is not on our grid for this week but BBC CBBC channel has a great schedule running from today onwards for primary children. At 9am today the first 8 minutes of the 5-7 year old Bitesize Maths programme is great for revising 2D and 3D shapes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08h0xbj
Remember if you have any questions or need extra help, do email us or phone. Mrs Howie will be in school each day and can speak over the phone if that is easier.
Today the children had great fun taking part in another outdoor learning activity to hunt for information in the school playground….but this time it was all about having some ‘Halloween Fun.’ The children worked collaboratively in pairs to find the word and picture cards, to have a go at reading the words out to each other, and then to write down the ‘orange’ letter onto their ‘code’ answer sheet. Once they had found all 12 cards, the answer spelled out ‘Halloween Fun.’
We will soon be moving to a new platform for sharing our learning with parents. Information will be coming home early next week and the ‘selfies’ will then resume.

Today the children tool part in some outdoor learning connected with their 2D shape work as part of Maths Week. The pupils were given maps of the playground with crosses to mark the spots where shape information signs could be found. The children then had to circle on their answer sheet (different for P1s and P2s) which 2D shape they had found. Good fun!
We also enjoyed our sponsored walk today. Well done to all the children for completing 3 laps of the running track and 2 laps of the field. Thank you to all those who have gathered in their sponsored money already! What a great day we had, weather wise! The sun shone on us.
This week in PE the class showed Miss Holman their raptor moves that they learned with Mrs Gray. We then worked in small groups to make shapes. Can all children please bring a jacket to school every day. This is especially important on Tuesdays and Thursdays when they have PE but they really need to bring one every day so that we can take our learning outdoors as much as possible. Thank you.
Miss Holman has started a lovely idea in class. If the children think their work is something they feel particularly proud of they can clip a ‘selfie clip’ to their work when they pop it into the finished work tray. We will then take a photo of it and email it to the children’s emails for them to open at home. Next week we will send information home regarding the children’s glow logins. We are in the process of helping the children to change their passwords, at the moment as they have been prompted to do, when logging back on. Children will need their glow login to access their emails at home. Please see the information being sent out by Mrs Duncan on the main blog page. Please also remember that HT awards for our class are all at the very bottom of this home learning page- please scroll down to see the photos.
Primary 2 Spelling Jotters. Can the spelling jotters please be brought back into school every Tuesday. We can then glue in the next spelling words. I am aware that this is a change to the original information but it will be much easier this way and words will not get lost. The children will then bring their spelling jotters home that night ready for learning their words at home.
Primary 1 sounds this week are e and h. The words are I, the, to and he.
We love seeing the work that the children are doing at home.
The story ‘What Colour is Love’ inspired the artwork above.
The new sounds for this week are r and m for Primary 1.
We have been enjoying getting outside for our PE lessons learning about different ways of travelling around the playground, learning the different shapes such as pencil, star, rocket and ball. We have also explored hoops and the different ways we can play with them.
When it is wet we enjoy yoga. We also have brain breaks – ask the children about Banana, Banana, Meatball – this helps with their coordination.
Primary 2 are working on lots of CVC words. We are now looking at using full stops and capital letters. In maths we are revising our addition to 10 and 20.
The new sounds covered since last week are s and m for Primary 1
